Fishing At Blue Heron Resort

We are the only resort on the lower Spanish River

Drive In and Discover the Blue Heron Resort, where you can always find a quiet place to go fishing. Just east of the town of Spanish on HWY 17. The river (Zone 10) is only open for fishing from mid-May to Sept end. The rest of the year it is closed as a Walleye spawning sanctuary.

The north channel (zone 14), is a 10 min boat ride from our resort is open from May 1st to Dec 31st!

“Well, in the first few hours of our trip we got our show shot. After shooting the Real Fishing TV series for more than three decades, believe me: things do not always happen that quickly. On our first day out we had about 15 smallmouth bass up to 5 pounds, and about 10 bonus pike just fishing by the seat of my pants. Not bad for water I’ve never fished before! “

“There are not many places you can go in Canada where you can fish for trout, salmon, bass, pike, muskie, walleye, and panfish all out of the same area, but the Spanish River and North Channel area is one of them. This place truly is an angler’s paradise that should be on every serious angler’s bucket list. As Arnold once said in The Terminator: I’ll be back!  “

A Variety of Fish To Catch

The three main species of fish that anglers come for are: Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, the Northern Pike, but we also have Perch, Crappie, panfish, and others. Sometimes you can even tie into the occasional Largemouth Bass. Muskie and Sturgeon are around, so don’t be surprised if you tie into one of these lunkers. If you have your own boat equipped with downriggers, you can get into some deep water to troll for Lake Trout and Salmon.
